Vacations on hold Pt. 1: Te Amo, Tulum

While we all take some time to turn inward, social distance, and also take a good hard look at who is being most greatly impacted by the pandemic (and start thinking what we need to do to change it!), I thought it would be the perfect time to flashback on a few trips -- since there won't be any happening, anytime soon. Without further adieu, I give you Tulum. The bachelorette party dreams are made of, for one of my besties, Kacey. We celebrated in green (for St. Patrick's Day), did a green/sustainable swim photoshoot, and lived the green life in our 'eco-chic' accommodations.

Fur Feb

Fur is back! *VINTAGE* Fur that is, and re-upping a few key points on fur before we get into a few of my faves for the flurry months that make vintage fur so fab: I’m vegan *about 90-92% of the time* (full-time vegetarian though!), and it all began because of animal rights and cruelty. In no way, shape or form do I support purchasing new fur and just want to get that out there. There are a lot of options when it comes to purchasing fur, and also conflicting opinions when it comes to what is most ethical and sustainable. Caucus: 2020 🇺🇸

February 3rd, 2020, Iowans will take to the polls - our caucus locations! - to kick off the year we kick out the current president. No matter who you're supporting, we hope all Iowans get out and do some democracy-ing on Caucus Night. We may disagree on our fave candidate(s), but we can all agree they'll be better on so many issues we care about - LIKE CLIMATE CHANGE!!! - than DJT. So in honor of our upcoming big night, here's a little flashback in photos with the Dems seeking (or once seeking, RIP) the highest office in the land.

Going green: AS SEEN ON YOU

2020 is here, and that means so are all the resolutions we're attempting to fulfill (I'm right there with you, more on resolutions another day:) but for now - IMO, the simpler we can make it all, the happier we'll be. And that goes big time for going green(er) - a resolution many of us made for the new decade 💚 I get asked a lot about how to make sustainability a part of everyday life, and this question often comes with a little fear and a nervous undertone - followed by the 'what if I can't do it all' mentality that so many people have. My answer to that: F it and don't worry! Anything is something and a fabulous start. Do...

You don't need that 💩

You don't need that 💩and neither do I. Said 💩we're talking about: Black Friday deals/doorbusters/blowouts/etc. I know the 'how low can you go *in price*' game, please know I played it for many years, and days like Black Friday bring out our most competitive sides to win that game. Although I've always loved the second-hand life, cheap, cheaper, and cheapest was my other ♥️ It's STILL hard to pass up a killer deal. BUT, I really do stop and think about the need for [insert cheap item] and what impact (environmental and other) its creation has had. There will always be a time when we have to buy new, but my challenge to you - and to myself - is to really, really think...
